I love this little world, and I think I'm going to do two more pieces in this series, so definitely look for those. I'll give a hint as to the next one in the last part of this one.
To be continued very soon, I promise.
Hope you like!
Part II
"Mommy, what are you doing up?" Nicholas started from the doorway, his hand still on the knob eyes narrowing on his mommy.
"Bella wanted someone to play with," She told him softly, offering him a smile.
"You're supposed to be sleeping," He said again, a soft pout twisting his face.
"Mommy," Noah dragged out as he too come to stand in the doorway, "we was gonna surprised you."
"Oh?" She said back, raising a curious eyebrow at them. She was on her left side, propped up on her arm, and hand been looking down at Bella, who was laying on her back.
"Go back to sleep, mommy," Nicholas demanded tossing her a less then amused scowl.
Erica laughed lightly, "I'm not tired." She told them, eyes behind them and fixed on the doorway where David had just emerged.
"But we wanted to surprise you, mommy," Nicholas pouted.
"Why don't we still surprise her?" David offered from behind them, "Just because she's awake doesn't mean she knows what we've been up too." He flashed her a knowing smile and held her gaze.
"What did you boys do?" She asked with a smile and a curious eyebrow.
"We mades you a surprise," Noah beamed back, Nicholas nodding as he tipped his head toward his daddy.
Bella gurgled loudly from beside Erica, kicking her pink pajama clad feet at her brothers and her daddy. Erica laughed, cooing to Bella as she scooped her into her arms, and shifted so that she could sit with her back against the headboard, Bella in her lap.
"You heard the ladies," David told them, tipping his head toward Erica and Bella.
The boys exchanged knowing looks, and matching mischievous smiles, before looking back at their mother. "Happy mommy's day, mommy," They said in unison, eyes wide and twinkling with delight, as they started toward the bed.
David watched them with a knowing, amused, proud smile, his heart swelling with love for these children. He still didn't believe this was his. Erica, the boys, Bella, that this was his family to love and protect. He still worried that one day he'd wake up and realize it was all some cruel dream, and that he really was all alone in the world.
Nicholas flanked the right side of the bed, throwing himself up on the edge, bouncing it slightly, much to Bella's delight, "I love you, mommy," He beamed, sliding on his knees toward Erica so he could place a soft kiss on her cheek.
Noah echoed his brother's sentiments, jumping on the left side of the bed. "We mades you breakfast." He told her, leaning in to kiss her cheek, in the same soft sweet motion that his brother just had.
"You made me breakfast?" Erica asked, smiling from left to right at the two most adorable little men she'd ever had the pleasure of laying her eyes on.
"They did," David told her from the doorway, tray in hand as he started into the room, "They even helped with the menu."
Make that two of the three most adorable men she'd ever laid eyes on. "Oh, so I'm having pizza." She teased, both boys bursting with laughter as they shook their heads.
"We no made pizza," Noah told her through his laughter, sliding in closer to her and holding his and out to Bella, who was gurgling happily in her mommy's lap.
"What did you make?" She asked curiously, watching David shake his head as he walked toward the bed.
"That's the surprise, Erica," David told her with a wink, nodding as he walked around the side of the bed.
Bella kicked her feet and blew out a bubbly laugh, at the sight of the daddy. She loved both of her parents and her brothers, but there was no doubt that she was her daddy's girl. "Anything that my guys made has to be worth the wait."
The boys beamed at her, eyes wide and twinkling with love and excitement. It all seemed surreal sometimes, that this was hers. A loving husband whom she shared three children with. A house full of love and laughter. She'd missed this with Bianca; the wide eyed wonder of young children, the bright, eager way they approached everyday, like it was something new and wonderful. She'd spend the rest of her life making sure that their smiles never faded.
David stopped at the side of the bed and leaned down slowly, setting the tray just above Erica's knees, so that he could scoop Bella up on the way back. "Happy Mother's Day," He offered through a smile and low breath, as he leaned in to drop a soft kiss on her lips.
They boys snickered and made soft Ewwww sounds in response to their parents display of affection.
"If we stop kissing boys," David laughed, shaking his head as he pulled a very amused Bella into his arms, "that's when you get to complain."
They grinned back at him, their wide eyed wonder and happiness flooding the room. They might not always like to see their mommy and daddy kissing, but that didn't mean they wanted it to stop. They wanted their mommy and daddy happy forever. "You gots to see what we made you now, mommy," Nicholas told her, and Noah nodded, bouncing enthusiastically on the bed.
David shook his head, laughing happily as he sat down on the edge of bed, Bella in his lap as they faced the boys, "Don't keep us in suspense any longer, Erica," David teased, offering her a knowing wink.
The boys moved to lift the lids off the plates; Noah revealing the omelet and fruit, while Nicholas opened the lid to the pancakes he'd helped prepare.
"It's an om'it, mommy," Noah told her proudly, happy that he remembered the name, "With 'ushooms." He beamed nodding as Erica leaned over to place a sweet kiss on his cheek.
"It looks delicious, thank you baby," She replied, offering him a sweet smile in return.
"The pancakes are chocolate chip, mommy, I helped make 'em." Nicholas proclaimed proudly, pointing to the plate of pancakes.
"You helped make these?" She asked, watching him nod back to her, eyes wide and burning with love and pure innocence. She'd spent so long jumping from relationship to relationship, man to man, trying to find whatever it was she was missing. It wasn't until these three little people were placed in her arms that she'd found all those missing pieces. That wasn't to say she didn't love Kendall or Bianca, or that they weren't as big of pieces of her heart as these three little beings were, she'd just never had this chance with them. These moments, and each one she made with them the more herself she became.
"Well they look fantastic," She beamed, eyes going from her boys, to David who was holding Bella' against his chest; her eyes sleepy and low as she blew slow soft breaths against his shirt.
"Show her what else you made for her," David reminded them, tipping his head toward the rest of the tray.
"There's more?" Erica asked with a knowing smile, watching the boys nod excitedly.
"We made you cards," Nicholas said excitedly, reaching for the tray and his card which sat in front of his brother and sisters.
Nicholas pulled his card out first, holding it out to Erica so that he could tell her about all the pictures he'd drawn for her. At four years old he was hardly and artist, but to his mother's keen mommy eye, she could see every heart, every flower and every balloon he'd draw for her.
Noah was next in line, his smile wide and toothy as he handed Erica her card. It was nothing more then scribbles, lines on the paper, that were different colors and had no rhyme or reason. Erica saw the flowers, saw the hearts, and pointed them out to her son, who nodded excitedly.
"Bella made you one too," Nicholas told her, after she'd showered them both with thank you kisses and a mommy hug and left them both pulling away while laughing that she was squishing them.
"Daddy put her hands in purple paint," Noah told him, shooting his eyes to David, "and then we put her hands on da cards."
Bella's eyes were heavy lidded, drifting open and closed as she fought sleep against her daddy's shoulder, "She loves you too," David told her, looking down at Bella as he rubbed soft circles over her back.
"You gots 'nother pesent, mommy," Noah told her, pointing to the nicely wrapped box that sat on the opposite side of the tray.
"Another card?" She asked of the boys, who shrugged at her, feigning innocence as they pointed to the box.
"Open it mommy," They demanded, bouncing against the mattress in their excitement.
She let her eyes leave the package and shifted them up to meet David's, wondering what this was and why he had that look in his eyes. She knew that look, that one that took her breath away. The one that made her heart skip a beat and made her pulse thread loudly in her ears. The one that was filled with so much love, it almost hurt.
"You heard them, open it up." His voice was low and mischievous and his expression matched their sons to a tee. If this is what she had to look forward to for the rest of her life, she may as well just give up, because she was hopeless to resist them.
Nicholas handed her the box, pressing her to open it, "Come on mommy, open it."
