This is pure fluff, and this was done without a beta so it might be a bit rough, but what can I say...I have no beta these days. Anyway, I hope you like.
Shadows crept along the sidewalk and crawled over the grass as dusk swept over Pine Valley. The air was still warm and sticky, perfect for an early July evening. Whatever wind there had been nipped at the tears as it passed them by on its way home for the night.
"I don't think we could have asked for a better day."
His voice was low and rough as it floated through the trees near the boathouse, his eyes fixed on picnic table to its left.
"It's about time all that rain cleared out," The woman at the table replied, her eyes wide and bright as she looked up at to meet his gaze, "Thank god too, I can't imagine having kept the boys in all day."
He offered her a nod, rounding the table so he could slid in next to her, "They'll be asleep before we get home."
"With all that sugar you've let them have," She said through a mock scoff, the smile that tilted her lips betraying any attempt for anger she might have offered him.
"They haven't had all that much sugar, Erica," He laughed, shaking his head as he slid across the bench toward her.
She opened her mouth ready to list the candy and sweets he'd let their sons have since their arrival, but her words were muted by the little bundle that sat on her lap. "You see that, Bella agrees with me." She laughed, eyes sliding down to the bright eyed six month old who bounced and gurgled on her knees.
"Agrees with you," He tossed back, through an amused laugh, holding out a hand to his daughter, "she interrupted you in defense of me. Didn't you darling?" He asked, eyes peeling from his wife and sliding down to his daughter.
Isabella Elizabeth Hayward or Bella as they taken to calling her was her mother daughter in more ways then they could count, so it was no surprise that she was lapping up the attention her parents were paying her. She batted at her daddy's hand, eyes wide and filled with wonder as she gurgled back at them, a toothless smile spread across her pudgy cheeks. She was a happy baby, at least more so then either of her brothers had been. Her tears were few and far between and only in pursuit of a meal or clean diaper. They had a running joke that maybe they'd picked up the wrong baby at the hospital, and had it not been for her fathers dark eyes and his devastating eyelashes coupled with her mothers chestnut locks, they might have actually found merit.
"She knows I'm right, David," Erica laughed, watching Bella's eyes light up at the game she was playing with her daddy's hand, "And she knows what happens when her brothers have to much candy."
"They have fun, don't they baby," He asked eyes on Erica, but the words were directed at Bella. She blew out a soft laugh and flayed against her mommy's chest; eager to express her approval of her parents attention.
"Fun?" Erica laughed, shaking her head, "Is that what they call running around like wild animals, these days?"
He nodded, his smile warm and teasing, as he leaned across the table to get the stuffed bunny that Bella was suddenly fascinated with having within her reach. "Boys will be boys."
"Clearly," She nodded, watching David dance the bunny across table to Bella's squeals of delight, "their daddy can be the biggest little boy of them all." Her eyes were soft and warm and her smile was wicked and playful.
He nodded back at her, eyebrow raised, "Mommy should be grateful that daddy is still young enough to play with them. Otherwise, mommy would have been the one out there playing baseball."
"I know how to play baseball," She pouted, and he nodded, dancing Mr. Bunny off the edge of the table and into Bella's lap.
"I'm sure you do, darling." He laughed back, eyes on Bella who was grasping the life out of Mr. Bunny as she shook him in the air.
"You don't believe me?" She offered, tossing him a knowing smile.
Bella blew out her opinion, a part giggle, part gurgle her eyes going from her mommy to her daddy, and then back to Mr. Bunny as she shoved his left ear into her mouth.
"Bella believes me," She told him all smiles.
"Well then," He nodded back at her, sliding in just enough so that he could reach out to touch the soft skin on her left arm, "you'll have to show me how you handle a baseball." His voice slid low and breathy, and his eyes burned into hers, the double meaning in his words sliding over both of them.
Her eyes swam with desire and she nodded, blowing out a hard breath, "Is that a challenge?"
"Mmm hmm," He nodded, leaning in slightly; just enough so that she'd feel his breath against her face.
"Well," She nodded back at him, "I hope your up for it."
"Mmm," He breathed, his lips moving in to capture hers, "always."
Her lips were warm and inviting; soft and warm, he noted as he leaned into her.
She parted her lips with no prodding, his breath to warm and his lips to intoxicating to resist.
He laughed into her mouth, the vibrations swimming over the course of both of their bodies. It was no wonder how they so often got lost to nothing but each other.
Mr. Bunny's left ear was still being held hostage in Bella's mouth as she babbled and gurgled away between her parents, completely oblivious to her parents actions.
"Ewwww," Two voices sounded from the opposite side of the picnic table, their protests however, were almost swallowed up by their laughter at having caught their mommy and daddy kissing.
