Just a quick chapter, fluff really, to move us into the next part of the story. D&E couldn't stay in their little world forever, reality has to come into play at some point.lol

I know I skipped ahead a few weeks, but it's only for plot purposes. I promise, you will get lost more baby moments.

Oh, and I didn't forget about Leo, who was still living with Erica...he just hasn't been a factor in the story...yet.

Chapter 11

" You're showing." David breathed, against her neck as he slid his arms around her.

Erica nodded, frowning slightly at her reflection in the mirror. She'd only known she was pregnant for three weeks, and at almost sixteen weeks her babies were already making themselves known. It was still a little early for her to be showing, but she figured that was due to the fact that she was carrying to healthy babies. Twins...the thought terrified her.

The fact that she was showing wasn't the part that was making her apprehensive, it was the fact that no one outside of David, Bianca, Bayn and Leo knew about her pregnancy.

Erica put her hands over David's, " It's real now." She breathed, in awe of their miracles.

David nodded, " Two healthy babies, I still have trouble processing it all."

She nodded, her smile fading again. " If we're having so much trouble processing it, the rest of the world is going to go nuts over this."

David nodded, holding his arms open to her as she turned around. He held her tight, and as close as her small tummy would allow. He smiled, in awe of the feel of their babies nestled safely between them. " Erica, the world is going to have a hard time processing this, we know that. But in the end, the only people who really matter are right here in this house, and we're all ecstatic, Erica."

Erica nodded and breathed a sad sigh, resting her head on his chest. " I could just stay here for the next five months." She mused sadly, forcing a smile.

David dropped a kiss on the top of her head, and laughed lightly. " You know I would be fine with that." He teased, pulling her closer. " But that's not your style, Erica. And it's not mine either. We're fighters. We've fought for everything since we got together, and this is no different."

She nodded still refusing to look at him, " I'm just tired of fighting." She admitted softly.

" I know." He replied, sadly. " But at least we're fighting this battle together."

She nodded, and lifted her head, finally looking up at him. " The four of us versus the world?"

David nodded, " You mean the seven of us?" He smiled. " Last I checked, Bianca, Leo and Bayn are fighting right along with us."

Erica shook her head, and smiled, " Seven? When did it become the seven of us?"

" I don't know." He admitted with a laugh, " But I kind of like it. One big, happy, dysfunctional family."

" Family...." Erica breathed, " I like the way that sounds."

" Me too." He affirmed with a smile, leaning down to kiss her softly. " How about I round up the troops and we go out for dinner?"

" Out ourselves?" She said back to him, realizing what dinner out meant. " Are we ready?"

He didn't say anything, instead reached down and took her hand. He smiled at her, as he laced their fingers together. " Now we're ready."

" You're sure?" She asked hesitantly, watching with wide eyes as her moved their joined hands onto her stomach.

" We can survive anything, Erica. These two are proof of that." He breathed, his eyes locked with hers. " Lets go share our miracle with the world."

Ok, there's a little ickyiness in this chapter. But I'm sorry, I had to address it.lol Since my timeline for this took place after said event, I had to have it dealt with.lol

Other then that, just a little fluff, and only the start of the public reacction to the news of the Kane-Hayward twins.lol

Chapter 12

" Everyone is staring at us." Erica mused softly.

BJ's was packed, and for the most part she was right. Most of the PVites in the room did have their eyes glued to Erica, or their eyes conveniently drifted in her direction every few minutes.

David shook his head, " I expected worse." He told her with a smile.

" No one has said anything because they don't want to interrupt our dinner." Erica responded sadly, moving her food around with her fork.

" You have to eat, mom." Bianca said from across the table.

Erica shook her head, " I can't eat with everyone watching me."

" I think they're taking it pretty well, Erica. It's not everyday that you walk into the room, pregnant. I probably would have fainted." Leo said with a laugh.

David, Bianca and Bayn shot him a less then thrilled look. They were doing their best to help Erica through this as best as they could. But in the end, they knew what the fallout was going to be.

" He's right Miss Kane." Bayn said with a smile, " I can't imagine how hard this must be, but if anyone can handle this, it's you."

Erica nodded and flashed her a thankful smile.

" Do you want something else?" Bianca asked, motioning to Erica's still full plate. " Maybe some ice cream?"

Erica shook her head and leaned back in her chair, " Maybe this wasn't such a good idea."

David moved closer to her, " We've been through much worse then this, Erica."

She nodded, and turned to look at David. " I wish they would react, this staring and silence is even worse."

David nodded, and placed a soft kiss on her temple. " I think that's what they're going for, building up the the suspense." He said lightly, " They're going to let us down you know, with their petty comments and all. No one here is worthy of going to toe to toe with you." He got a smile out of her with that, and then he leaned in closer, " You want something sweeter? Ice cream? A milkshake? Chocolate cake? Sugar and things with no nutritional value seem to help calm you and our babies." He teased with a knowing smile.

Erica flashed him radiant smile and leaned it to kiss him. " Cake." She breathed against his lips, still smiling.

He nodded, " If our children have your smile...I might as well just stop fighting, they'll get me every time."

David shook his head, laughing lightly as he made his way to the counter. He was definitely going to be out number if one of their babies wasn't a boy. The girls in his life were going to have him wrapped around their finger...maybe that wasn't so bad after all. He smiled, lost in his thoughts of his family.

" You know, when I suggested that you get started on settling down, I didn't mean right away." Dixie said softly, standing next to him.

" Hmmm..." He said, turning to look at her. " Dixie, hi."

Dixie flashed him a friendly yet curious smile. " Congratulations." She said, her tone sweet and friendly.

David smiled back, but he knew there was more to this then she was letting on. " Thank you. Erica and I didn't see this coming, but it truly is a miracle."

" You're eyes are sparkling." She pointed out, still smiling.

" Are they?" He asked, happily.

Dixie nodded, " So you're happy? I mean, you and Erica? It must be strange being thrown back into each others lives like this."

David paused for a few seconds, as he decided how much he wanted to reveal to her. " Erica and I are thrilled. This miracle of ours has given us reason to try again. We're going to make the best of our second chance."

" The two of you...you're back together?" She said after a few seconds of stunned silence.

He nodded slowly, nodding thank you to the cashier, " I love her, Dixie." He told her, his tone so steady and honest that she couldn't doubt him, no matter how much she wanted too.

" You shouldn't reunite just for your child, David." She said, the words falling out of her mouth before she could stop them.

" I would never do that, not to Erica or our child." He paused, not wanting to reveal the fact that they were having twins, " I want a family, and I want it with Erica."

Dixie nodded, " I'm happy for you, David. You deserve all the happiness in the world."

" Thank you. Dixie, listen what happened between us...when I kissed you." He started, turning to look at her. " My heart...my heart was broken, I was on the rebound."

Dixie nodded, her eyes cast down, looking at her soda. " Of course, David. I never thought otherwise. I knew how deeply you cared about Erica, and how much losing her hurt you. You weren't thinking straight. It's understandable."

David nodded with a smile, " Thanks for understanding, Dixie. You're a good friend."

She smiled at him, " Congratulations again. You're going to make a wonderful dad."

David nodded thank you, picked up Erica's cake and headed back towards the table.

He saw Palmer and Vanessa standing by the table, and he knew that Vanessa was hassling Erica.

" You really should lay off the cheeseburgers dear." Vanessa scoffed with a laugh and grin.

" Leave her alone, Vanessa." Leo warned from his seat.

Palmer agreed, trying to rush her away from the table. " I'm offering her friendly advice, what's wrong with that?"

Erica turned to face Vanessa, and stood up. " I'm not fat you vindictive shrew. I'm pregnant."

Palmer, Vanessa and the jaws or everyone else in BJ's dropped. " That's right, pregnant." She said again, " With your grandchildren, Vanessa."

Vanessa blanched, her face going pale. " My grandchildren?"

Erica nodded with a smile, a hand resting protectively over her babies. " David and I are having twins, Vanessa. Two healthy babies. Babies that you will never get to influence." She said, her voice icy and steady, yet firm.

" Really my dear, how long do you think you're going to keep fooling David into believing that your children are his?"

David was done letting Erica handle this, and walked over to the table. He practically throw the cake plate on the table. Bianca, Leo and Bayn watched with wide eyes, and smiles.

" You stay the hell away from, Erica." David practically growled.

" David...darling..." She started, but the fierce look of protectiveness in his face stopped her.

Erica smiled, and moved closer to David, " If you come near me or our children, I swear I will make you pay." Erica vowed.

David smiled proudly, and put an arm around her.

Vanessa mumbled something under her breath and walked away, in huff. Palmer stayed behind and offered Erica and even David his congratulations and gave her a hug, reassuring her that he was behind her.

" You were awesome, Mom." Bianca said with a grin.

Leo nodded, " Vanessa is no match for you, Erica."

Bayn nodded, " God, how did you not punch her?"

Erica smiled and shook her head, smiling at David as he pushed her chair in. " I had to hold back with everything I had. Besides, I don't think a fist fight is good for the babies."

They all laughed at that, and began to settle back into their dinner.

David reached over and pulled the cake in front of her, " You deserve a whole cake after that." He said, smiling proudly. " I'm proud of you, Erica. You handled yourself with grace and didn't stoop to her level."

Erica smiled back at him, " I hate her." She said with a laugh.

David laughed and leaned in to kiss her, one hand moving down to rest on her stomach. " I love you Erica."

She smiled against his lips. " I love you too, but I'll love you even more if you go get me some ice cream to go with this cake."

She flashed him that smile again, and he knew it was hopeless, she was going to get whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. He was going to spoil her, protect her, and take care of her. This was his family, and he was going to be by their sides for the rest of his life.

Chapter 13

" Wow." David breathed, dropping a kiss on Erica's cheek. " Where did that come from?"

Erica smiled to herself, and rolled over in his arms to face him. " Pregnancy hormones are good for a few things."

" A few." He laughed, dropping a kiss on her lips.

" I think that little argument with Vanessa helped fuel the fire." She said flashing him a playfully grin.

" Mmm...then I think I'm going to have to pick a fight with you every night." He teased, leaning down to kiss her again, more passionately this time.

" Who needs chains, huh?" Erica laughed, as he pulled her closer, her head resting on his chest.

David laughed, " I think we could find a few fun ways to use the vise."

Erica smiled against his chest. She was half asleep already, but she wanted to ask David a few things before she feel asleep. " Your conversation with Dixie seemed serious, is everything alright? She's not sick, is she?"

She felt David's arms tighten around her at the mention of Dixie. " David?"

He sat up, taking her with him.

" David?" Erica said again, noting the far off look in her eyes.

" You know that I love? And that even though we were broken up, I still loved you." He said, looking deep into her eyes.

Erica nodded with a smile, " Yes. Why do I get the feeling that you're going to tell me something bad?"

" I um...I was pretty lost after we broke up. I wasn't thinking straight..." He started, but Erica cut him off.

" Did you sleep with her?" She asked point blank.

David shook his head, smiling at the fact that she knew him so well. " But something did happen?" Erica asked again.

He nodded this time, " I kissed her."

Erica turned her head briefly, but quickly looked back at him. " Do you have feelings for her?" She asked softly.

" No." David said, his voice so honest that she couldn't possible doubt him.

Erica nodded with a smile. " David, we were broken up. You had a right to kiss anyone you wanted."

He nodded, " I know. I just didn't want you to find out from someone else and think there was more to it then that."

" I trust you, David." She whispered, fighting to keep her eyes open.

David smiled at her, and wrapped his arms around her, and laid back down. Erica smiled as his arms snaked around her waist, and around her stomach, his hands entwined over their babies.

" I love you, Erica." He breathed into her neck, closing his eyes. Her smile was the last thing he saw, and that was how it was meant to be, for the rest of their lives. Falling asleep in each others arms, and waking up there. This was paradise.

Bayn was sitting on the edge of the pull, hanging her feet over the edge into the water. Her back was to the backdoor, and she was looking up into the clear night sky.

" Beautiful night, huh?" Bianca said sitting down next to her.

Bayn nodded and smiled at her. " I just wanted to enjoy it out here one more time." She said sadly.

Bianca shook her head, " Bayn..."

" Child Protective Services is going to see my picture plastered all over the papers with all of you, and they're going to come get me."

Bianca was silent for a few seconds, " You're forgetting that I know your secret."

Bayn shook her head, " We made a deal. I keep yours and you keep mine. You can't tell."

" If I tell, you can stay here with us." Bianca practically pleaded.

She shook her head, looking right at Bianca. " If you tell my secret...I'll tell yours." She fired back at her.

" I don't understand you, Bay. You love it here. We love having you here. You're part of the family now." Bianca said, tears starting to well in her eyes.

" I can't do that to Erica, you know that." She said shaking her head as she turned away.

" You're family." Bianca spit back, " I need you."

" You're my best friend Bianca, that's not going to change." She said, " But I am not going to tell my secret. She doesn't need me in her life now."

" You're already in her life." Bianca reminded her.

She nodded, " Ya, as Bayn James. I need to stay that way."

" So you're just going to let them take you away? Put you with strangers?" Bianca said, a few tears falling down her cheeks.

Bayn nodded, turning away so Bianca didn't see the tears welling in her own eyes.

" How can you say you love us, if you can leave that easily?" Bianca said angrily, through her tears. She stood up and looked down at the top of Bayn's head, " If you leave, you're no better then he is." She said before turning and walking away.

Bayn shook her head and let her tears fall. None of this was fair. She finally found a place where she belonged, where she fit in, where she was wanted, and she was going to be forced to leave it. But she had to, she reminded herself, swiping at her tears. Erica didn't need what her secret would bring to her, not now. So she would keep quiet, and let them take her away, even if it broke her heart.

Chapter 14

" I still think they're taking it better then we expected." Leo said from his spot at the breakfast table, a copy of that mornings edition of the Exposer in front of him, Erica and David on the cover, complete with headline " Doc and Diva headed for Diaper Duty".

Bianca shook her head, " This isn't the any of the worlds business anyway. They should all just stay out of our lives."

" I agree, but your mom is a superstar, the public eat this kind of stuff up." Bayn mused sadly, " I don't think this will last too long. It's just the shook of all of this."

" I hope you're right, I don't think mom can take this for another 5 months." Bianca added.

" I still stay the fact that the world didn't collectively pass out, is a very good sign." Leo joked again, " At least they got pictures of all of us on our good sides." He teased, holding the article next to Bayn's face.

Bayn nearly winced at her picture. She knew it wouldn't be long before Child Protective Services was knocking on the door.

Bianca stared at her, silently pleading with her to tell her secret. To admit to Erica who she really was that she could stay with them.

" You're mom and step dad are going to have a cow when they see where you ended up, Bayn." Leo said through a bite of scrambled eggs.

She nodded with a smile, " Hopefully my step dad will have a fatal coronary." Bayn joked, but the sadness in her eyes gave her away.

" You think they'll let you stay here, once they figure out where you are?" Leo asked

She shook her head, " If Child Protectives Services doesn't see that picture, I have no doubt that my step dad will call them. I'll be out of here by lunch."

Bianca dropped her fork and looked up at them, her eyes filled with sadness, and quickly excused herself from the table, practically running out of the kitchen.

" What's up with her?" Leo asked Bayn.

She shrugged, and lowered her head, refusing to let Leo see the matching tears in her eyes.

" Anything I can help you with?" David asked as he sat down next to Bianca.

She was sitting on the porch, crying softly.

" How'd you know I was out here?" She asked, looking over at him.

" I heard the front door slam shut." He told her with a smile, " Saw you sitting out here, and thought maybe you needed a friend to talk too."

She flashed him a small smile, " Thanks, David, but I don't think you can fix this."

" Try me."

She shook her head, " Where's Mom?"

David's smile grew at that, she was so much like Erica, always changing the subject when she didn't want to talk. " On a conference call. We made a deal, she work as hard as she wants to, as long as she doesn't leave the house."

Bianca nodded with a smile, " That's good, she really needs to take it easy. "

David nodded, " I agree, and it's nice that you're concerned about you mom, but this isn't about Erica. What's going on Bianca?" He asked.

She shook her head, " I made a promise, David. I can't go back on my word." She rambled.

" Sometimes it's alright to go back on your word if tell a secret is for the other persons own good." He told her with a smile.

" See that's the problem." She said finally looking over at him, " The truth is a good thing, at a bad time."

" There's really a perfect time for secrets to come out, Bianca."

She nodded, " I know."

" What's Bayn's secret, Bianca is she in trouble?"

Bianca shook her head, but didn't say anything. " Ok, so she's not in trouble and her secret isn't bad, just bad timing?" He asked, trying to make sense of the little she'd told him.

She nodded, and he could tell she wanted him to keep prodding, but she wasn't going to reveal anymore.

" I'm guessing it has something to do with her parents?" He surmised.

She nodded again. " Her picture is in the news with ours. They're going to know what's going on. And if her step father hates her as much as she says he does, they're going to call Child Protective Services. I want her to stay with us David, she belongs here."

He nodded, " She's become part of the family..."

" More then you know." Bianca said under her breath.

" What?" David asked, wanting to make sure that she said what he thought she said.

" Just that she fits in so well here, I would hate for her to end up somewhere bad, with people who don't love her."

" I feel the same way Bianca, but we're not family, your mom and I aren't married, and with the news of Erica's pregnancy out now, no judge in his right mind is going to believe that we could provide her with a stable home."

" But we can." Bianca started, practically pleading her case. " Her grade's are higher with us, she's not getting into any trouble, she's happy. Why can't she stay with us?"

" Laws like this don't make any sense, Bianca. There's really nothing we can do. It would be a completely different story if she was blood. At least then we would have the chance to fight the system."

Bianca was silent, she wanted to tell, she ached to tell. But she'd given her word, promised that she wouldn't reveal Bayn's true paternity. " What if..." She started, but stopped torn about what was right.

" What if, what Bianca?"

" What if I told you that Bayn is family...by blood." She said, looking over at David.

Long chapter, sorry about that.lol And yes, I totally fluffed out this chapter.LMAO. So sue me! I don't know if it's the fact that D&E are 2 days away, or if it's all the caffiene I've had, but I was in a good mood, and fluffed my way through this chapter. lol

Chapter 15

Bianca and David walked through the front door a few minutes later.

Bayn and Erica were in the kitchen talking and laughing, but they fell silent as soon as they saw David and Bayn.

Bayn knew the second she laid eyes on them. David knew her secret, he knew the truth. She smiled at them, desperately trying to keep Erica from seeing the look on her face.

But Erica noticed, she seemed to notice everything. " Why do you two look so serious? David what happened?" Erica asked softly.

David and Bianca shook their heads, walking towards her. " I got into an argument with a friend of mine. David was talking it out with me."

Erica smiled at them, failing to notice the look on Bayn's face. " Is everything alright now? Did David help you?"

Bianca nodded smiling over at David.

" Good." Erica said with a smile. " Bayn and I were just talking, and I think it might be fun if we go to my appointment today as a family. The four of us, and Leo of course."

David nodded, " I think that's a great idea. Ladies?" He asked looking over at Bayn and then at Bianca.

Bianca nodded happily, but Bayn hesitated. " I'm honored, but I think I better stay here and pack up, you know just in case C.P.S shows up today."

" You can do that when we get home." Erica said, " That will buy us some time to try and figure out how to get you to stay with us,"

Bianca shot David a loaded look, but Erica failed to notice. " Sounds great." Bayn said forcing a smile.

Erica nodded happily, " Perfect." Erica said over the ringing of the phone. " Why don't you two go find Leo while I get that?"

Bianca and Bayn nodded, Erica headed into the other room to get the phone, and Bianca headed for the stairs, Bayn right behind her.

David's hand on Bayn's forearms stopped her. He motioned for Bianca to go ahead, and then turned his attention back to Bayn.

" Are you going to tell her?" Bayn asked quickly, ready to get it over and done with.

David shook his head, " No." He said, " But you are."

She closed her eyes and nodded, " We don't have to tell her, David. Just let me go, and pretend eventually you'll forget me."

" Whether you like it or not, Bayn you've become a part of the family that we're building here. This is you home."

" David, the kind of stress that finding out who my real father is going to be huge. I can't risk the health of those babies."

David nodded, and smiled at her. " You're they're aunt." He said with a laugh.

She smiled at the, " Ya, it's really odd, isn't it? Bianca is my niece too, and you're practically my brother in law."

He nodded and laughed lightly, " Bayn I don't know what Erica's reaction is going to be. But I believe that letting you go would be worse then the shock of your true paternity. You're family, and Erica would hate herself is she let someone she loves who is her flesh and blood go without a fight."

" Erica has waited her whole life to be this happy, David. She doesn't need more Eric Kane spawn in her life, especially now." Bayn pleaded softly.

" You are nothing like Eric Kane." David told her firmly.

" But that doesn't matter in the end." She said, and was just about to continue when Erica came back in the room.

" Everything alright?" She asked smiling as walked over to them, " You look so serious. Did something happen?"

David shook his head and smiled at her, " We was just talking, nothing of substance."

Bayn nodded and forced another smile, " How was your conference call, Miss Kane? You get everything taken care off?"

Erica nodded, " Everything worked out even better then I'd hoped."

" Good." David said, leaning over to kiss her. " You know that means no more work for the next few days." He teased with a smile.

" Yes master.' She teased back with a radiant smile.

Bianca and Leo ran down the stairs a few seconds later, " We get to see the peanuts again today?" Leo teased as they headed for the door.

Erica laughed lightly, " They're bigger now, Leo. They'll look more like babies this time."

" So are we they identical or fraternal?" He asked again, holding the door open for all of the,.

" Fraternal." Bianca replied, with a knowing grin.

" How can you tell?" He asked, " OK, wait so that means, I'm looking at a niece and nephew?" He asked Erica as she walked out the door, " Right, one of each? Hey, hey, come on, don't be like that." He whined playfully as he pulled the door closed behind him.

" OK, so explain this to me again." Leo asked motioning to Erica's stomach.

They were in the exam room at hospital waiting for Dr. Clader to return and conduct the sonogram. Erica was laying on the exam table, wearing a paper hospital gown that she hated. Bianca, Leo and Bayn were standing on her left side, and were all smiles. David was on her right, sitting on a chair positioned near her hand.

Bayn and Bianca laughed, thoroughly amused. " Identical means that the babies come from one egg that divides into two, geneticly identicial, same sex babies. Fraternal twins is when two separate ova are fertilized." Bayn explained.

Leo looked at them more confused then ever. " Ok, you know on the last sonogram how it looked like each "peanut" was in it's own bag?" Erica began with a smile.

Leo nodded, waiting for her to continue. " If the babies were identical twins there would have only been one bag."

" Oh, I think I get it. So like each baby is it's own little person? Not a copy of each other." He said proudly.

" Very good." Dr. Clader said from the doorway. " And they're right, these babies are without a fraternal twins." He explained, flashing Erica and David a smile as he went about setting up for the ultrasound.

" So one of each then?" Leo asked again, unable to contain his curiosity.

Dr. Clader shook his head, opening Erica's file. " Not necessarily. Most fraternal twins are one of each gender, but it very possible to have two girls or two boys."

Leo looked back at Erica and David, his face filled with confusion. " I'm so confused."

Erica laughed lightly, and David started to explain, but Dr. Clader cut him off.

" Erica, you and your babies are in perfect health." He said, reading her file. " Everything is as is as it should be, there is absolutely nothing to worry about."

Erica released the breath she hadn't realized she was holding, and smiled at him.

" Should we take a look at the babies?" He asked, his eyes on Bianca, Bayn and Leo.

All three nodded happily, their eyes looked on the sonogram monitor.

" Does that hurt?" Leo asked, watching with wide eyes as Dr. Clader moved the wand over Erica's stomach.

" Tickles." She said with a smile, lost in the moment as the babies heartbeats floated through the room.

" Wow." Bayn and Bianca said in unison.

" Cool." Leo said, smiling at the girls.

" Sounds perfect." Dr. Clader informed then, flipped on the monitor. " Leo, I think I can show you the answer to all your questions." He said, motioning for all three of them to move closer.

Erica and David watched with matching smiles as the image of their babies finally appeared.

" They're perfect." Erica breathed, as David placed a kiss on her temple.

" You're right, Erica, they do look like babies now. Real little people." Leo mused, his eyes locked on the screen.

Bayn and Bianca nodded, tears welling in their eyes.

" I know it's hard to see now, but we know their fraternal, because they were each in their egg sack. Think of it like a bedroom, the each had their own. If they were identical, they would have shared.

Leo nodded with a smile, finally understanding.

" Here's the head." Dr. Clader said to pointing to each baby, " And the body, and there, are the hearts...strong and stubborn."

Erica and David smiled, and laughed, knowing that they were going to bring the two most stubborn children into the world.

" And this ones a boy." Leo observed pointing to the baby on the left.

Everyone laughed at that, and Dr. Clader shook his head. " It's still to early to tell the sex with a sonogram, Leo. But I will let you in on a little secret."

" OK." All three of them said in unison.

" Little girls heartbeats tend to be faster then little boys." He told them with a wink.

They all fell silent, listening closely to see if they could hear a difference.

" I think we're having one of each." David whispered to her, he heard a distinct difference in the heart rates, and while it wasn't proof positive, it was enough for him.

Erica smiled, and nodded, her eyes locked on the screen. " A daddy's little girl, and a mommy's boy. I couldn't ask for anything more." She breathed, tears in her eyes, as she turned to face David. " Thank you." She breathed, leaning in to press her forehead to his.

David was speechless, and did the only thing he could think to do, and kissed her tenderly. This was their happy ending. This was the it. Everything he'd never knew he ever wanted, and he was going to make sure that he gave his children the most loving and stable life that he could. Erica was his love forever, and he was going to prove that...now more then ever, he wanted to put a ring on her finger.
