Chapter 33

A week later it was finally time to take the babies home.

They'd both put on a little over a pound.each, and were keeping it on. They were absolutely perfect babies. So happy and always alert. Erica joked constantly that these couldn't be her kids, because they were so well behaved, and calm. Nothing at all like her, or their father.

Matthew was definitely the quieter of the two, however. He just seemed to roll with the punches, and only cried, which was more of a squawk when he was hungry.

Maddyn, even though she was pretty mellow too, was a diva in training. She had to be the center of attention, and seemed to always know what was going on around her. She was such a little drama queen too, crying when she was so much as moved.

Chapter 32

They'd figured out how to do switch babies after a few more unsuccessful attempts. It was a rather easy and practical solution, one they should have had first. David laid Matthew on the bed, and Erica handed him Maddyn.

They had the other baby now, and were taking the chance to bond. The nurses were very understanding and had left them alone for a few minutes.

" He's perfect." Erica breathed, Matthew safe and secure in her arms. She knew nothing about little boys, but she knew that this one had her heart and always would. Chapter 31

The nurses were all smiles as they wheeled the babies, still in their NICU beds, into the room.

Erica was beaming, as her babies came into sight. They were beautiful. Perfect.

Maddyn was wrapped up in a tiny pink blanket, and had a pink
baby beanie on, so they couldn't see the full head of hair.

Erica's mind was still hazy, but she was sure that Maddyn had black hair, like her daddy, and Matthew, Matthew he had his mommy's chestnut locks. He was wrapped in a blue blanket, but he didn't have a beanie on.

Matthew's nurse smiled at them, " He's very stubborn little guy. Every time we put his little hat on, he cried and screamed." The nurse laughed.

David was sitting by Erica's bed, holding her soft hand is his, his eyes locked on her sleeping face. She looked so peaceful, so content, so beautiful, she was almost glowing.

She was still out, but it was a very light anesthesia and she was mostly sleeping from sheer eshaustion. He wanted to be with her when she woke, so he would stay with her, hold her hand, until she finally opened those beautiful brown eyes.

He moved a strand of hair off her forehead, and leaned down to place a tender kiss there.

" Mmmm..." She moaned softly, he brown eyes starting to flutter open.

David smiled at her, waiting for her eyes to open fully, before talking to her.

" Have you heard anything?" Bayn asked, walking towards them. She'd gone down to the hospital to get them all some coffee, and had been gone longer then she wanted.
Bianca shook her head, but smiled, making sure that Bayn followed her eyes to the group of people gathered around them.

Bayn smiled at the group, but it was a very confused smile. " What are they all doing here?"

Bianca smiled, tears starting to well in her eyes, " They came to pray that we get our miracles."

Leo nodded, " Cool huh?"

Chapter 29

Erica flew into an uncontrollable panic at the realization that her water had in fact broken. These babies were coming, and according to the nurse that was examining her, they were coming extremely fast.

David was doing all he could to keep her calm, or at the very least, keep her in bed. She was desperate for something to stop this, something to keep her babies inside of her, while she knew rationally that there was nothing she could do.

Chapter 28

Erica was in a total panic as they drove to the hospital. She was barely 30 weeks and it was far to soon for her babies to be born. This was her biggest fear, something happening to her babies at the very last minute.

They were at the hospital now. David was by her side the entire time, trying his best to resasure her that everything was going to be alright. But nothing he was doing was working. She was a mess. Even the ultrasound that Dr. Clader was peforming wasn't helping.

" Heartbeats are stable, Erica." He smiled, at the tiny monitor. There was no doubt that Erica was in active labor, but her babies were unphased by it all.
