Why was it so cold? Pine Valley was never this cold in July, or maybe it wasn’t cold, but the way the air was stinging her lugs as she gulped it in. Maybe it was the way she shook and ached, as her tears slid off her cheeks and pooled at the top of her lip.

Her tears? When had those started? And why? She hated the bastard. She should be glad that he could never harass and hurt the people of Pine Valley anymore. She should feel like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders, like she could breath knowing he’d never take her to court or that she’d never have to worry that one he’d decide he wanted sole custody.

She should be relieved, but she wasn’t.
