This week in October 1999, David and Erica realized that there was more to their relationship then just sex, and agreed to "strings" between them.

David: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shock you.

Erica: The last time you proposed to me, you know, you did it in an equally angry way in an attempt to prove how important I was to you.

David: You are important to me. You are the first woman -- no -- you are the only woman I've ever trusted my secrets with. We've celebrated the best of each other, and we've survived the worst. No woman infuriates me as much as you do. And no woman makes me feel more alive. I thought that having my clothes in your closet and your number on my speed dial equaled commitment. But I realize now that -- that we need more. You need to know that I will never desert you. And if for some reason i can't be there, I need to know that you'll understand and that you'll save a place for me in your heart and in our bed. We need to trust, Erica, the feelings that we have for one another, that those feelings are real and that they're eternal.

Erica: David -- what do you feel for me?

David: I love you, Erica. And I want you to be with me always. To be my love. To be my wife.
